Our technical benchmarks by type of professional space
Each space has its own regulatory and functional requirements. An office calls for a precise illuminance level and low glare, a warehouse favours robustness and uniformity, a hotel lobby an atmosphere. Here are the benchmarks we apply, in line with the EN 12464-1 standard and the control of the UGR index (glare).
Illuminance level (lux)
The EN 12464-1 standard sets recommended illuminance levels by task: around 500 lux for an office workstation, 300 lux for a circulation area or reception, more for precision tasks. Insufficient illuminance tires the eye, excess wastes energy.
Glare (UGR)
The UGR index (Unified Glare Rating) measures the discomfort caused by glare. In an office, a UGR of 19 or below is recommended to preserve comfort in front of a screen. It is a central criterion, often overlooked, that makes all the difference over a working day.
Colour temperature
Neutral light (4000K) suits most workspaces, as it supports alertness. Reception areas, hotels and relaxation zones benefit from a warmer light (3000K) that softens the atmosphere.
