New LED lighting for the exhibition of a Brussels antique dealer

Antique shop Norden Fine Antiques called on Euro-Spotlite to help them find an LED lighting solution to replace their ageing halogen lighting. Our customer runs a delightful antiques shop in the Sablon district of Brussels.

Our challenge was to achieve lower consumption, less maintenance, less heat generation, more light and a rapid return on investment, while remaining consistent with the special atmosphere of the shop.

Another demonstration of the flexibility of LED lighting

Rodalight suggested replacing the existing 35w and 50w halogen lamps with new AR111 Verbatim 14.5w-2700K warm white LED lamps with a 25° beam angle.

This model of LED bulb has very high quality components. These include high quality warm white diodes with a Colour Rendering Index of 85+, very low heat emissions and a remarkable combination of beams emitted by the LED lamp.

This solution solved 5 problems in particular:

  • Reducing the overall consumption of around sixty spotlights.
  • Reduce the ambient heat due to the high heat output of the halogens installed in the gallery and in the window.
  • Maintain the muted atmosphere created by the existing halogen lamps.
  • Increase the general level of illumination while improving the quality of lighting on the instruments, furniture and works on display.
  • Capitalise on existing fixtures without having to invest in expensive new ones.

Perfectly matched LED light

Norden Fin Antiques is an elegant little space on rue de la Régence in the Sablon district of Brussels. It is dedicated to sumptuous old musical instruments (violins, old oboes, harpsichords, small pianos, etc.) as well as beautiful works of art and other objets d’art.

It was therefore essentially a question of lighting objects made of fine wood, with various shades of wood and a very warm atmosphere that needed to be maintained and enhanced. The current halogen lamps were AR111 type with narrow or medium beams.

These types of halogen lamps are ideal for amplifying and recreating hushed atmospheres, thanks not only to the superb warm white tint generated by these lamps, but also to the beams, which can be adjusted at will from narrow to very wide, and a specific anti-glare element contained in the lamp.

The luminaires that contained these lamps were rail-mounted transformers of a well-known brand in very good working order, so we didn’t change them!
