Project background: bespoke LED lighting for Bouvy
Bouvy, a top-of-the-range fashion boutique, wanted to modernise its lighting to showcase its collections while saving energy. With almost a thousand different lamps in its various shops and workshops, the transition to LEDs had to be carried out gradually, without disrupting the customer experience or shop operations.
Rodalight was asked to provide a tailor-made LED lighting solution, adapted to the specific needs of the textile and interior architecture, including ceilings almost 4 metres high. The aim was twofold: to achieve optimum light output for each product, and to ensure simple, efficient management of a highly varied fleet of lamps.

A perfectly adjusted LED lighting effect
The heart of the project lay in the targeted accentuation of the light on the collections on display. To achieve this, we recommended the use of very high output GU10 LED spotlights: 8.5W per lamp, delivering almost 700 lumens, equivalent to 94W halogen, with a colour rendering index (CRI) of over 85.
This type of LED spotlight not only reduces energy consumption, but also preserves natural light, which is particularly important for enhancing the textures, colours and finishes of textiles.

Technical advantages of selected GU10 spotlights
- Optimised power for targeted, precise lighting.
- CRI > 85 to faithfully reproduce the colours of clothing.
- Substantial energy savings compared to halogen sources.
- Easy to install and adaptable to existing fittings.
- High-quality material for long service life.
Management of a dense and varied lighting stock
Bouvy has a very heterogeneous lighting stock: halogen lamps, discharge lamps, TL fluorescent tubes for workshops and stocks. For the technical staff, managing all these references and determining the appropriate lighting for each type of area represents a real challenge.
Rodalight worked closely with one of Bouvy’s technical staff to understand exactly what was required and to propose solutions tailored to each situation, ensuring even, efficient lighting in all sales and production areas.
Tailor-made LED lighting proposal
Our approach has been to identify the specific requirements for each type of application:
- Window and display lighting to accentuate the value of products.
- General lighting for shops and workshops to ensure comfort and visual safety.
- Spot lighting for specific areas, such as fitting rooms.
The GU10 spotlights were chosen for their ability to provide sufficient luminous flux while adapting to the existing fittings, without requiring any structural modifications. Each lamp was selected on the basis of its wattage, beam angle and colour rendering.

Comparison table: before/after
| Criteria | Front (traditional lamps) | After (GU10 LED) | Improvement |
|---|---|---|---|
| Energy consumption | ≈ 94W per lamp | 8.5W per lamp | -91 % |
| Service life | ≈ 2 000 h | ≈ 25 000 h | ×12,5 |
| Quality of light | Varies according to lamp type | CRI > 85, uniform light | Optimum colour rendering |
| Maintenance | Frequent, regular replacement | Minimal, long life | Reducing intervention |
Technical explanation in plain language
GU10 spotlights are designed to concentrate light on targeted areas. Thanks to their high-efficiency LED technology, they provide a high luminous flux while consuming very little energy. The high CRI ensures that the colours of the textiles are faithfully reproduced, avoiding any alteration in hue that could harm the presentation of the collections.
Low power consumption, long life and compatibility with existing installations make GU10 spotlights an ideal choice for fashion boutiques, where lighting plays a strategic role in the customer experience.

Benefits for the Bouvy shop
- Precise, uniform lighting, highlighting each product.
- Significant reduction in energy and maintenance costs.
- Gradual installation with no disruption to commercial activity.
