A bright project in the heart of Brussels

Located in the residential district of Floréal in Brussels, the Floréal pharmacy wanted to completely rethink its interior lighting. The aim was to modernise the space, improve the visual comfort of customers and staff, and showcase the products in a bright, sober and welcoming setting.

Rodalight supported the pharmacy from design to implementation, focusing on a technical and aesthetic approach that was consistent with the identity of the space. The result: uniform, natural and energy-efficient lighting, perfectly suited to the pharmaceutical environment.

Project background and challenges

Lighting plays a key role in pharmacies. It’s not just a question of ensuring visibility, but also of creating an atmosphere of confidence and well-being. For Pharmacie Floréal, the needs identified were :

  • Optimum lighting levels for the sales and advice areas.
  • Neutral light, with no distracting reflections, for maximum visual comfort.
  • Subtle enhancement of product displays.
  • Reduced energy consumption thanks to high-performance LED sources.

Technical analysis and design

Before any installation, a photometric study was carried out. This enabled the volumes of the pharmacy to be modelled and the luminance levels to be adjusted according to the different zones: counters, shelving, preparation area, reception area.

The study also enabled us to compare several lighting scenarios. Rodalight opted for a colour temperature of 4000K, offering a faithful rendering of colours while maintaining a soft, professional atmosphere.

Choice of luminaires and layout

The choice of luminaires was guided by the search for a balance between technical performance and aesthetic integration.

Main elements installed :

  • Recessed downlights in the ceiling for uniform general lighting.
  • Adjustable spotlights on rails in shelf areas, to target product display areas.
  • IntegratedLED strips under shelves for a soft halo effect and improved label legibility.
  • Suspended lights above the main counter, combining design and functionality.

Lighting designed for comfort and performance

One of the key points of the project was the management of visual comfort. Rodalight selected low-glare optics (UGR < 19) to guarantee a pleasant experience, even during prolonged use.

The luminaires are fitted with high-efficiency LED modules, guaranteeing a life of over 50,000 hours and minimal maintenance. This choice of technology gives Pharmacie Floréal peace of mind over the long term, while reducing operating costs.

Home automation and control integration

The project also incorporates a system for automatically varying the brightness according to natural light. This regulation optimises energy consumption and maintains constant comfort throughout the day.

The luminaires can be controlled individually via a DALI system, making it easier to adjust them if the store needs to be rearranged.

The result: a welcoming and enhanced space

Thanks to the new lighting, the Floréal Pharmacy has a clearer, more legible and more welcoming space. The circulation zones are better defined, the products are better promoted, and the staff work in optimal conditions.

Customer feedback is unanimous: the pharmacy seems more spacious, more modern, and inspires greater confidence. Lighting plays a key role in enhancingthe customer experience.

Rodalight expertise: lighting as a performance driver

This project illustrates Rodalight’s philosophy of combining technical expertise, lighting design and energy efficiency. Each installation is designed as a tailor-made response to the customer’s needs, with particular attention paid to perceived quality and durability.

The success of the Floréal Pharmacy project confirms Rodalight’s ability to help medical and paramedical professionals design functional, aesthetic and responsible spaces.
