The main aim of a business is to sell, and to achieve this, the layout is crucial. The location and layout of the display area are very important factors in driving the act of purchase. Lighting is also an essential design element in showcasing your products. Good lighting can create an attractive atmosphere and define spaces. It can also highlight the colours and materials of the items on display. Several months ago, Rodalight advised the Finstral Studio showroom in Zaventem on its lighting system. Find out how we highlighted their products.
Introducing Finstral Studio
Finstral Studio is a manufacturer of top-of-the-range windows and doors, with its factory in Italy. The company already has a number of showrooms in Europe and the Benelux countries. One of them, our customer, is located in Zaventem near Brussels. In 2020, Finstral decided to continue its development strategy and opened a new showroom in Zaventem.
This is an area of over 600m2 displaying window frames, windows and doors. These are products that are already in the Finstral range.
Lighting lenses
The company had identified several objectives for the installation of a new lighting system:
– To give a very high light output so that customers could clearly see the details of the frames, their materials and colours;
– To illuminate different areas: the reception area, the showroom, the training area, the kitchen, the toilets and the storage area.
The problem of luminaires
The existing lighting inside the building was not suitable for an exhibition room. We started from an existing lighting system, but needed to rethink everything.
We were faced with two major constraints:
– the impossibility of embedding equipment. However, it is an ideal solution for this type of project.
– The format of the products on display is very special. The window frames are displayed on high, wide displays.

Designing a lighting implementation plan
In order to achieve the objectives set by Finstral and overcome the difficulties encountered, we began by carrying out a detailed diagnosis of the existing system. We then proposed suitable, customised lighting solutions to our customer. These were quickly accepted by the company, and we were able to begin installing the new lighting.
Our solutions for choosing luminaires
The showroom
The showroom is now bathed in intense, comfortable light. To achieve this, we installed extremely compact, surface-mounted LED linear luminaires with beams of over 120°. This means that very high displays can be illuminated effectively. We calculated this angle using one of our professional technical devices.
Thanks to this system, visitors can perfectly distinguish the nuances and colours between the different frames. What’s more, it allows passers-by to see the entire showroom from the outside.
The kitchen
As far as the kitchen was concerned, it was the only space in which we could fit recessed luminaires. That’s why we installed recessed downlights.
Storage space
In the storage area, on the other hand, we fixed LED tiles to the ceiling. They allow employees to work in a bright and safe environment.
The training zone
Finstral is also a training centre for window fitters. There is a dedicated area in the building. We have installed the same track lighting as in the exhibition area, as well as a screen for showing explanatory films, training courses and lectures.
Choice of lighting level
As a reminder, one of our objectives was to bring intense light into the showroom. That’s why we illuminated the space with luminaires offering a light output of over 700 lux.
What’s more, the LED luminaires we’ve chosen all have a CRI 90+: the colour rendering index (the ability of a light source to reproduce colours faithfully) is at least 90. In other words, the light is a sustained shade of 4000 Kelvin light white, close to the natural brightness of the sun, which has a CRI of 100.
High-performance lighting results
Today, Finstral is more than satisfied with our services. Our expertise has enabled them to highlight their doors, frames and windows and create a bright space that attracts customers. They see the products perfectly and are more likely to make a purchase.
